Alzheimer's Disease(AD) is anirreversible form of Dementia characterised by memory loss, a progressive decline in intellectualability, deteriorating language and speech skills and by personality and behavioral changes that eventually interfere with daily living.

 

According to the Alzheimer's Society "The number of people with Alzeimer's Dementia in the UK in 1996 was 412,500 and predicts that this will grow to 460,000 by 2010 and to 825,000 by 2050. Approximately 55% of these will have Alzheimer's".

Alzheimer's & Dementia Support Services (ADSS) was set up in 1991. It is a lead provider of practical and emotional support to people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias- their main carer - other relatives and supporters

The prime of ADSS is to enable people with dementia to stay in their own home for as long as possible and to support their carer throughout their caring role and even after it has ended. ADSS operational area is Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley covering some 46 square miles in North West Kent.

The aim of Alzheimer's Support is to provide a range of flexible services to support people with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementia’s and their carers.

The Alzheimer's Research Trust is the UK's leading research charity for dementia. We are dedicated to funding scientific studies to find ways to treat, cure or prevent Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, Lewy Body disease and fronto-temporal dementias. We do not receive any government funding and instead rely on donations from individuals, companies and charitable trusts, money raised by individuals and gifts left in people's Wills to fund our vital work.
